How Does Virtual Learning with SoCoVA Work?

How Does It Work?

What to know about SoCoVA

  • High School credit deficient students can make credit up alongside their regular work–it’s the same system.
  • SoCoVA students can take advantage of dual enrollment at community college to get an extra leg-up on their future.
  • SoCoVA high school-age students have the opportunity to take part in some traditional “rites of passage,” including sports, clubs, dances (including Prom and Homecoming), graduation ceremonies, attending games and performances, and activities like Project Graduation. If students have a specific interest or activity on campus they would still like access to, contact the program coordinator to find out if it can be accommodated.
  • The program used is Edgenuity Some portions of the program are video and others are reading-based. There is live tutoring support for students, available for every student, with an actual teacher on the other end of the chat box.
  • SoCoVA students can attend school from anywhere with Wi-Fi access, freeing them to pursue interests outside of the school environment such as non-high school sports or travel and exploration.
  • SoCoVA students can follow both A-G (UC/CSU college prep) and Advanced Placement pathways.
  • SoCoVA is for students in grades 6 through 12.
  • Students with IEPs and 504s can be SoCoVA students, though not every plan is suitable for the program, and prospective students will be required to take part in transition meetings to see if their plans are supportive of the student joining SoCoVA.
  • SoCoVA has rolling enrollment, so join us anytime!
